Recycling

BRI recycles numerous materials. To show you what our efforts can do, we keep track of the total pounds recycled in these major categories.

2008
 

Aluminum

BRI recycled approximately 47,000 aluminum cans. This recycling will save approximately 23,500 KWH worth of energy.

Plastics

57,000lbs of plastics were diverted from the AZ landfills by BRI in 2008. This diversion saves the energy equivalent of 50,000 gallons of gasoline and 900 sq. yards of landfill space.

Stainless and Carbon Steel

Over 8 tons of metals were recovered. To put this in perspective, here are some approximate numbers that are required to produce this amount of steel.

Over 400 tons of earth must be torn from its original placement.

The fuel equivalent of 16,000 gallons of gasoline would be used to process the ore.

In the landfills, this material would most likely leach into our groundwater, increasing our already high levels of iron.

It is our hope that with your help we will be able to negate all of our carbon emissions caused by the use of fossil fuels. We are not far from that goal and we hope that you will consider this as another great reason to use BRI.
